Raleigh Dorset news

Raleigh Dorset recently had its first project - a beach-clean of Chapman's Pool, near Swanage, on Sunday 26 April - which went very well. Although windy and overcast as we descended to the beach, the sun and wind quickly behaved much better so that by lunch-time, the eight of us were enjoying great weather as we endeavoured to clear litter from the entire length of the beach with other members of the public. After lunch next to the beach huts, we sampled the liquid refreshments at the local Square & Compass, including Stonehenge's Sign of Spring which looks more like washing-up liquid but still tastes great! See the photos in the "Photo Gallery" section.

Plans are currently afoot to organise the next project and other events as well as a project for Raleigh National Volunteering Day / weekend on 13-15 November to commemorate Raleigh's 25th anniversary so if you've got any ideas, we'd love to hear from you (via the "Contact Us" page) or better still, come to one of our monthly meetings (details in the "Events & Activities" page).

Join us during the week of 21-25 September in reliving Raleigh and spreading the word: in this anniversary year, we want to have as many of the 30,000 alumni giving presentations! Share your expedition stories, photographs and memories, and encourage others to join an expedition themselves!
